Summoning wisdom to rule a peaceful kingdom…Guardian No. 1117

Anchored by strong family loyalty, this Guardian measures approx. 22″ long, 8 1/2″wide, and 7″ deep. The green ears indicate that a male was my inspiration.

He rules his kingdom passionately with strength and wisdom. He has a “mane” of hand felted sheep’s wool, indicating self-sacrifice for the greater good. Chiffon ribbon from reclaimed saris symbolizes that this Guardian rules under the formidable persuasion of women.

His penetrating red eyes, the color of fire and blood reflect his energy and intense personality which is mellowed by his “buttons” of copper. An element known to help one release excess charges of anger.

He is a man who finds peace and tranquility in the security of his landscape. The brown color in the fabrics stand for protection and his great sense of duty and responsibility for supporting his family. The blue wings allow him the freedom to escape into open spaces where he is able to experience peace and tranquility away from his self-imposed responsibilities.

This Guardian takes flight into the world on a vintage bed spring from a hand painted wooden block. Sewn to the back of his right wing is a tiny bell, representing my mother’s playful spirit. It’s gentle sound is a reminder to listen to the whispers of your heart.
