Guardian No. 119

Guardian No. 119…enchanting the world with a peaceful presence…

This Guardian’s flame-red hair is inspired by her role as a torchbearer, the fire of her passion inspiring others to courageously seek their own truth.

She emerges from a beach rock, representing a life that has been beautifully transformed by the wild seas of the heart. The tail of sari ribbon, reclaimed from a tightly woven utilitarian object, becomes a symbol of freedom from the constraints of society…leaving a trail of gold representing illumination.

Her wings lift her as she rises above the judgment of her peers. A glass nub with the colors of the earth, sea, and sky emerges from her center, revealing the peace found by diving deeply into herself and revealing her true nature to the world. She surrounds herself with a mesmerizing melody while swimming through a sea of dreams to harvest the hidden “pearl” that is her authentic self.

This Guardian takes flight on a re-purposed bed spring emerging from a hand-painted reclaimed wood block base measuring approx. 22″ tall x 7″ wide by 8″ deep. Sewn to the back of the Guardian’s right wing is a tiny bell, representing my mother’s playful spirit. Its gentle sound is a reminder to listen to the whispers of your heart.
