Guardian No. 316…transforming her world of dreams into reality…
A royal Guardian standing approx. 19″ tall (with stand) and 9″wide. A lavender cut glass bead echoes refinement, grace, and elegance. Her jeweled dreadlocks dripping with dragonflies (transformation) fall from spiked felted wool hair. She reigns as queen of her enchanted world, wearing a teeny beaded crown of felted unspun dyed wool and a chunky golden necklace.
Her feminine and strong moral character called forth pastel and jewel toned fabrics for her body. Vintage lace and tiny bead buttons embellish the front of her dress ending with a ruffle of sari ribbon. Her legs glitter with beads as she moves through the world in golden shoes. Her wings are thoughtfully embellished with embroidery and beads.
This Guardian takes flight on a re-purposed bed spring emerging from a hand-painted wood block base. Sewn to the back of her right wing is a tiny bell, representing my mother’s playful spirit. It’s gentle sound is a reminder to listen to the whispers of your heart.
