Navigator on the tumultuous river of life…Guardian No. 518

The green ears indicate that a male was my inspiration. This Guardian’s fiery passion is conveyed by the use of red throughout…fire and blood. His owl-like beak indicates his acquired gift of wisdom as he travels the ancient path of life and death.

A cairn, serving as a landmark, forms the base of his crown, topped with a “lightening rod” for deflecting danger, enabling him to navigate throughout his kingdom and into “foreign” landscapes. His intuitive eye serves to increase his perception beyond ordinary sight. The teal colored ribbon flows down this Guardian’s back like a river, with its creative power and energy, representing the many phases of life.

The gold wings transport him into the realm of complete understanding, allowing him to attain and maintain communion with all beings.

This Guardian takes flight into the world on a vintage bed spring from a hand painted wooden block standing 21 1/2” x 10” x 7”. Sewn to the back of the Guardian’s right wing is a tiny bell, representing my mother’s playful spirit. It’s gentle sound is a reminder to listen to the whispers of your heart.
