Two-stepping on the hilltops under twinkling stars…Guardian No. 717
This Guardian has been uprooted from his birth culture…he is somewhat of a mysterious figure. The green ears indicate that a male was my inspiration. A crown of deer antler tips wrapped in hand spun sheep’s wool reflect his kingdom in a “foreign” land watching over the more vulnerable. A rusty found jug lid signifies a deserted life and a single bead with many eyes allows for a vigilant awareness needed for protecting his peaceful world. The chosen fabrics echo the mountain hillsides and the expansive skies that shelter and embrace this Guardian. He wears deer antler buttons and a heart belt buckle.
This Guardian takes flight into the world on a vintage bed spring from a hand painted wooden block. Measuring approx. 19 ” long, 7″wide, and 8″ deep. Sewn to the back of the Guardian’s right wing is a tiny bell, representing my mother’s playful spirit. It’s gentle sound is a reminder to listen to the whispers of your heart.
